Juana la loca

Sorry again for lack of updates, I've been on vacation, you see. To Mallorca, a Spanish island. I didn't do much shopping, but among my purchases was the book "The Last Queen", a book about Juana la loca, or Joanna the Mad as she's known as in English. I cannot wait to start reading it! If you don't know who she was, I can tell you that she was one of Catherine of Aragon's elder sisters. She eventually became Queen of Spain as her elder siblings died, but her husband, Phillip the Handsome, and son, Charles V (the nephew Catherine is always talking about in the first season of the Tudors) locked her up, and declared her mad and not able to rule her country. How awful isn't that?

What I am most curious about reading is perhaps the relationship between Juana and Phillip. You see, when the two of them first laid eyes on each other, it was, not love, but lust at first sight. Juana was very, very pretty, and Phillip very handsome, so... He even suggested that they should marry the same day, just so they could consummate their marriage! In the first years, their marriage was very passionate, but eventually they began to see that their personalities were quite different, and Phillip began sleeping with other women, which infuriated Juana. She was kind of obsessed with her husband, but really who can blame her? The man she loved above all others slept with other women and did not longer appreciate you like he did before. Kind of what happened to Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII.

Yes, so that was today's lection, haha. I did not actually mean to dedicate this entry to Juana, but oh well. And speaking of, as you can see, my poll ended with Queen Victoria winning, so I will dedicate an entry to her next time! It's just that I must honestly admit that I do not behold all that information about her life in head, so I will have to do a little research before writing about her. And oh, it will be a better entry than this about Juana. As said, I did not mean to write about the Spanish queen, I just started to blabber as I always tend to do. Geeze, you should really hear me going on and on about Anne. I could talk about Anne Boleyn nonstop for ever!

The princess was outbid on the most awesome Betsey Johson dress

How unfair! I was bidding on this superawesome vintage Betsey Johnson dress, and it was only an hour left so I thought "hey, I have a good feeling about this one, I don't think I'll bother keeping an eye on it, after all it's only an hour left"! FUCK ME! I was outbid, and didn't get it. I am so depressed right now. So depressed that I went on bidding on two vintage dresses and a vintage Levi's denim jacket, even though I'm not supposed to be buying anything before September 1st. Or at least until I get home from Mallorca... Oh well. I don't really care about the dresses, but I really want that denim jacket. It's so awesome, from liebemarlenevintage, but you better NOT be the one who outbids me. If it helps keeping you from doing so - if I loose this auction I might go killing myself. Or worse - buying those two pair of Ellie shoes that I want, and already have added to my shopping cart at howcool.com... Which I really shouldn't as I am not really supposed to be shopping. And those pair of shoes make up a gathered price of $87 + shipping which costs about $48. So you really should keep your hands (erm, bids) from my denim jacket!!

And oh, I definitely need to buy a black hat and a blazer like that!! I already have a similiar pair of shoes.

Gunne Sax by Jessica McClintock

I am so sorry for lack of updates, but I am so goddamn lazy! Je suis très désole (hm, I cannot quite remember how you spell désole, but whatever). So. I've just posted an outfit-pic on my Norwegian blog, which you can see here. Now I am listening to Hannah Fury (gah, I love her genious ghost/carnival/baroque/gothic piano music!), and eating chocolate. AND trying to find out what I want to write about today. OH I KNOW!!! Gunne Sax dresses. You either hate them or love them. I LOVE them. If you do not know what I'm talking about, click here. I myself own two vintage pieces of Gunne Sax. I bought them both for about $10 each on eBay, being very lucky (as prices may range as high as $250)!
Personally, I can spend hours upon hours looking for vintage Gunne Sax dresses on eBay, and never tire of it! Though I must honestly say that I have only worn one of my own dresses, and that was once in my birthday party where everyone were supposed to dress out as something beggining with the letter "B", and me choosing (of course) Anne Boleyn. Yes, if the surname started with a B, you could dress up as that person 8)
I actually even ordered the "B" necklace from eBay! But unfortunately two of the three pearl drops have fallen off, so I cannot use it any longer ('cause that looks stupid!!)

Wooo, getting off topic, are we? Yes well, Gunne Sax. I obviously adore the dresses because they look victorian/renaissance/medieval/prairie/southern belleish. Which I adore.
What do you think? Below are the two dresses I bought from eBay (and no, it's not me wearing them).

Wow, I just bought five new books!

Yeah well, I guess we will come back to that Leg Avenue collection later... Because I just have to share with you my five new purchases from eBay (well actually eight but the latter are two necklaces with images of Anne Boleyn and Marie-Antoinette as well as a pocket mirror with an image of Queen Elizabeth I on)! I sat up way too long last night, that resulting in five more books for my bookshelf (which is actually filled up), and for me to read. The books bought were The Queen of Subtleties: A Novel of Anne Boleyn, The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn, The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette: A Novel, Portrait of an Unknown Woman, as well as Dirty Blonde - the Diaries of Courtney Love. I love historical fiction, I love it above all genres! And most of all I love historical fiction of the Tudor era. That era has it all - sex, power, conflicts and pretty dresses!

Yes, I have taken the pictures from amazon.com xD

Shoes by Ellie

Okay, I just have to warn you guys that I am crazy about shoes. Shoes are an obsession, an addiction to me. Whenever I see a pair of shoes that I think are pretty and which doesn't cost too much, I buy them. 95% of the time I really do, which of course leaves me poorer and poorer... Because it is not only shoes I shop, I shop almost everything I want! I have been like that for a while, but after I turned 18, it got worse because I was now also able to shop from eBay. eBay, wow. What can I say, I think I have been shopping there for over $330 or something in only two-three months, and I have also been shopping at Etsy. But really, it has been totally worth it! Maybe I will show you some pictures of what I've been buying over the internet, but what I really was supposed to blog about in this entry was shoes. Shoes by Ellie. They have sooo many awesome shoes! I just hate the fact that they don't sell them themselves from their site, but sells their shoes through other sites (with different prices). I think it would have been way better if they sold the shoes themselves. Bah. And well, my problem is not really that the shoes are a bit pricey, but the high shipping costs. As mentioned before, I live in Norway, and if I am to pay for both shipping and the shoes, the price is just too much for me. Too bad, eh? But I have to admit that I still ordered a pair of adorable Sailor-shoes from unique-vintage.com three months ago, but I still haven't recieved them! I have to send a second mail requesting my shoes (and that pair of stockings). It has taken too long. Anyway, here are some pictures of Ellie-shoes that I'm dying after!
By the way, these shoes are "normal" Ellie-shoes, but tomorrow I think I'll post an entry about "Leg Avenue 09", a collection of really awesome shoes by Ellie shoes.

And oh, those with the anchor is the pair I have ordered, but not yet recieved, and I actually have a pair of glitter shoes, but those are Mary-Janes, and not just simple pumps which I also want!

A new blog about dresses and shoes, music and books, queens and rockstars!

Wow, I cannot believe that I finally did it! I've been planning for a long time now to start blogging in English on blogspot.com. You see, I'm actually Norwegian, and been running a Norwegian blog on blogg.no, but I thought to myself that I wanted to try something different, something exciting and fun! I decided that I would start blogging in English about stuff that I fancy and am interested in like fashion, history, music and so on. Well, duh, like I haven't been doing that on my Norwegian blog, but the thing is, you see, that this is not going to be a personal blog. Or, of course it's personal when I blog about my musical taste, my obsessions and so on, BUT I will not pour out all my feelings and inner thoughts to you on this blog. So I know, it's going to be a little superficial blog perhaps, but interesting and fun nevertheless! I guess some cues are baroque, Marie-Antoinette and other dead queens and ladies, alternative rock, Tudor England, ruffles and laces, books, Courtney Love, vintage, cupcakes, and lots of lots of SHOES and DRESSES!
